Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,

藤の花は、前年の秋口における枝の剪定が、カギであることを知るまでずいぶんと回り道した。昨秋、近所に入った植木屋さんと立ち話をしていて「藤を咲かせるのが難しい」とこぼしたところ、わざわざ足を運んでくれて、教授してくれた。

　　その①は、来春伸びる枝芽と花芽を判定すること。
　　その②は、枝芽は切り、花芽を程よく残す。
　　その③は、米のとぎ汁など肥料をやる。

　　であった。

さくらが終わって約一週間前、なんと砲弾のような花芽が随所に立ち現われているではないか。花芽はぐんぐん成長して房状になり、一気に広がった。
